I learned the basics of sharpening as a teenager in Cañon City, Colorado. After graduating from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, I spent eleven years in Austin, Texas playing music by night and, between stints wrangling and humanely relocating bees, refining my sharpening skills by day. Austin is where, in 2009, I first went into business as a sharpener. Over time, I gained the trust of many Austin clients and shortly became the highest rated sharpener in Central Texas. I moved to Denver in 2020.
In addition to my work as a sharpener, I am also a songwriter and hardware musician. Lately I'm most interested in modular synthesis. My latest solo record,
Retrellion, was released in April 2023. My band
Name Sayers' latest album, Joyboys In The Grindhouse, was released in July 2023.
Previously, in 2020, several years of collaboration with Palestinian oud master Sari Andoni yielded an album called Radicans. I am endlessly grateful to Sari for going on this journey with me.
Recently I built a mean little modular synth rig into a 1988 Halliburton Zero briefcase, and I've been taking to the stage again.
I believe in embracing and empowering unalienated labor, and take pride in my dual unalienated labors of music and sharpening.
As The Sharpist, my goal is to support myself and my family ethically, provide the best possible service to my customers, and always bring my best judgment to the work bench. In both realms, every project begins on a foundation of trust.
I am grateful to be serving customers in Denver and across the US and am committed to delivering the highest quality service.
Thank you for taking time to read about me and my work.
